Pros and Cons of Some Common Pallet Rack Systems
There are several types of pallet racks to meet different warehouse's need, only one type of heavy duty pallet rack
cannot fit all. To better pick up the most suitable type of pallet rack
for your warehouse, firstly you need to have a idea of the pros and
cons of the following racking systems.
Drive in Pallet Racking
Pros: Simple structure with lower cost, this type of rack is ideal for warehouses which requires large storage capacity.
Cons: Forklifts need to be driven into the internal shelves for operation, and the operator's vision inside the shelves is not wide enough, which increase the risk of operation.
Push Back Racking
Pros: Similar to the drive in pallet racking, also belongs to a type of high density rack system which allows for better storage rate. Forklifts no need to drive into the internal of rack for operation, it is more safety.
Cons: Push back rack is limited to the first-in, first-out operation principle. And the depth of the rack cannot exceed 5 pallet position.
Pallet Flow Racking
Pros: Different from the push back racking, this type of rack allows products been stored deep and densely, which bring a higher storage capacity for a warehouse.
Cons: Compared with other racking systems, the pallet flow racking is more expensive. And this type of rack is not available to all types of pallets.
