The Similarities And The Differences Between Heavy Duty Racks And Narrow Aisle Racks
In warehousing shelving industry, the heavy duty rack is also called the pallet rack, the narrow walkway rack
is also called the very narrow aisle rack. In today's large and
medium-sized warehouses, the narrow walkway rack is one of the most
common used cross beam structure rack systems. Judge from the appearance
and function, the heavy duty racks and the narrow walkway rack have
some similarities as well as some differences.
Let's start with the similarity between heavy duty racks and narrow aisle racks. Both of them are essentially the same type of racking systems. They share the same appearance and structure. These racks are basically made up of upright frames, beams, barriers and safety locks. All of them are transported by forklifts during use, but the narrow aisle racks are basically operated by special three-way forklifts. Actually, these two kinds of racks have the same place on the other components. To some extent, the narrow walkway racks are the improvement and extension design version of the heavy duty racks and pallet racks, and they are more used in the warehouses such as large logistics centers.
The difference between a heavy duty pallet rack and a narrow aisle rack is that, first of all, the height and storage capacity of them are different. Heavy duty racks are generally designed to be 3-5 layers, about 5-6 meters' height. However, the narrow aisle racks belong to the high racks, which are used in the high level warehouses. From the specification of the racks, they are different: the general heavy duty racks are used separately or in combination with the main and connect racks, while the heavy duty narrow aisle racks are used side by side with two types of pallet racks, which not only gives more advantages in storage and handling, but also increases the stability of the high rack. From the perspective of the aisle of the racks, normally there is enough space between each row of the heavy rack for transportation equipment and human operation, while the walkway of the narrow aisle racks is relatively narrow that must be used by the special forklift.
